Do we need to be experienced cyclists?
Not at all. Dad & Me is built for all abilities, from first-time riders to confident weekend cyclists. You don’t need to be a cycling family or own fancy bikes. We’ll guide you with pre-event rides to help build confidence and get you both ready.
What kind of bikes do we need?
Any well-maintained bike will do. Road bikes and hybrids are ideal for the distances, but children’s geared bikes are absolutely fine. Before the event, we’ll send guidance on bike setup, safety checks, and what to pack.
How old does my child need to be?
The event is best suited for children aged 9 and above, depending on experience. If your child can comfortably ride 15–20 miles at an easy pace, they’ll be ready for the trip.
How fast do we ride?
We ride at a relaxed, inclusive pace, usually between 10–12 mph. It’s about the journey, not the speed. We’ll have regular breaks and a support team making sure everyone enjoys the ride.
What’s included in the price?
The package includes train and ferry travel, three nights’ hotel stay with breakfast, experienced ride leaders, support vehicle, and a custom Dad & Me jersey and finisher’s medal.
Everything you need for an unforgettable weekend.
Is there support during the ride?
Yes! A support vehicle follows the group throughout, carrying spares, snacks, and first-aid supplies. Ride leaders are trained to support riders of all levels, especially young ones.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We ride rain or shine, it’s part of the adventure! That said, safety always comes first, and routes may be adjusted if conditions require it.
Do we need insurance?
We recommend basic travel and bike insurance that covers cycling activities. It’s not mandatory but provides extra peace of mind.
How do we prepare?
Once you’ve registered, you’ll be invited to our guided training rides in the lead-up to the trip. You’ll also receive a prep guide with packing tips, nutrition advice, and simple ways to help your child get comfortable on longer rides.
